Solution

Step 1: Given that:

Average speed of Abdul while driving to school= 20kmh1

Average speed of Abdul while returning from school to home= 30kmh1

Step 2: Calculation of average speed of Abdul's trip:

Average speed= TotaldistancecoveredTotaltimetaken

Let, the distance between the school and home of Abdul is s .

If the time taken by Abdul from home to the school is t1 and the time taken in return from school to home is t2 .

Then, using time=distancespeed , we get;

t1=s20kmh1

t1==s20

And,

t2=s30kmh1

t2==s30

Now, using the formula for average speed, we have;

vavg=s+st1+t2

vavg=2ss20+s30

vavg=2s3s+2s60

vavg=2s×605s

vavg=24kmh1

Thus,

The average speed of Abdul in his trip will be 24kmh1 .
