Solution

The correct option is D Goitre
Thyroxine is known as thyroid hormone as it is synthesized in the thyroid gland. This hormone is released under the influence of TSH, released by the anterior pituitary. Iodine is essential for the normal rate of hormone synthesis in the thyroid. Deficiency of iodine in diet results in low secretion of thyroid hormone. Abnormal secretion of thyroxine produces a goitre. It is a condition of enlargement of thyroid gland. To avoid this, one should use iodine salt in the diet.
