The correct option is B A - 30, B - 12
Recombinant therapeutics are the bio-engineered proteins which can be used to prevent/treat a disease. These proteins can replace a protein that is abnormal or deficient in a particular disease. These are produced by recombinant DNA technology. This technology involves insertion of the gene of interest into the host cell to get it expressed. The recombinant host cells are cultured on a large scale to enable mass production. The proteins are then purified from them. Since the gene for the protein is mostly obtained from humans itself, they are safe and less likely to elicit an immune response. These recombinant proteins are gradually replacing chemical drugs and are highly specific in their function.
At present, about 30 recombinant therapeutics have been approved for human-use all over the world. In India, 12 of these are presently being marketed.
