The Child Labour Prohibition Act, 1986 was enacted with the purpose of imposing complete prohibition on child labour. It recognises child as a person who is below the age of 14 years and employment of any such child in any kind of labour is made punishable under this Act.

According to The Child Labour Prohibition Act, a child below the age of fourteen years, cannot be employed in any kind of labour. Any person who hires such children for labour is liable for imprisonment of one year or fine or both.
