While Companies Act 1956 recognize only Managing Director, Whole time director and manager as the managerial person but Companies Act 2013 has brought in a concept of Key Managerial Personnel (KMP) which only not covers the traditional role of managing director and whole time director but also includes some functional heads like Chief Finance Officer, CEO, Company Secretary.

Section 2(51) of the Companies Act 2013 defines the Key Managerial Personnel.
