According to the priority order alkanes are given more importantance than alkylhalalkyl.so How can one .Write the name as 2-chloro3-methyl butane.why can't we write it as 3-chloro2-methyl butane?

There is a rule since C is first in the alphabetical order than M
C should get lower number ( here 2 compared to 3)
