Aromatic carboxylic acids do not undergo Friedel-Crafts reaction as the carboxyl $(- C O O H)$ group is deactivating and Lewis acid catalyst $A l C l_{3}$ gets bonded to the carboxyl group. The carboxyl $(- C O O H)$ group withdraws electron density from benzene ring through inductive and resonance effects.
