Light adaptation:

  1. The phenomenon where one feels blinded for a short time while coming out of a dark room is known as light adaptation.
  2. This is caused due to destruction of the photosensitive pigment called rhodopsin (responsible for vision in dim light) in bright light
  3. On the other hand pigment of cones (iodopsin) take time to get replenished which causes sudden blindness while coming out in light from the dark.
