Solution

Acid reacts with metals which are more active than hydrogen and forms salt and hydrogen gas. Whereas bases reacts with only zinc and aluminium forming zincate and aluminate and liberate hydrogen gas. Though both forms salt and hydrogen gas, the former forms acidic salt and later forms basic salt. That is the major difference.
