Solution

The correct option is A

Excess of nitrogen dioxide and sulphur dioxide from burning fossil fuels

Acid rain results when sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxides are emitted into the atmosphere by burning of fossil fuels. The sulphur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide react with water, oxygen and chemicals to form sulphuric acid and nitric acid . These then mix with water and other materials before coming down as acid rain.
