Activity-
(1) What is the volume in cubic metres of a platform 6 m long, 1 m wide and 50 cm high?

(2) What is the volume of a piece of wood which is 4 m long, 1 m wide and 25 cm high ? The price of 1 cubic metre of wood is 60000 rupees. What is the price of this piece of wood?

(3) The inner sides of a cubical box are of length 4 cetemetres. What is its capacity? How many cubes of side 2 centimetres can be stacked inside it?

(1) length of the platform =6 m
Breadth =1 m, height =50 cm=12 m
Volume 6×1×12=3 cu.m

(2) Ans: Since the price of 1 cubic metre of wood is given
Find the volume in cubic metre.
Length of the piece of wood 4 m
Breadth of piece of wood =12 m
Height =25 cm=14 m
Volume =4×12×14=12 cu.m
Price of 1 cu.m. of wood =60000 rupees
Price of 12 cu.m of wood =12×60000 =30000 rupees

(3) Inner length of box =4 cm
Breadth =4 cm, Height =4 cm
Capacity of the box =4 x 4 x 4=64 cu.cm
Volume of a cube of side 2 cm=2×2x2=8cu.cm.
Number of small cubes that can be stacked in the big box =648=8
