Subtraction of Integers
Add:19 -1,+20
Question
Add:
(19) −1, +20
Open in App
Solution
We have to compute (–1) + (+20).
Ignoring the signs and subtracting the smaller number from the bigger one, we have:
20 – 1 = 19
The magnitude 20 is bigger than 1. So, we will give 19 the sign of +20, i.e., the positive sign.
∴ (–1) + (+20) = +19
