$6 \frac{1}{3}$ is a mixed fraction and can be written as $6 \frac{1}{3} = \frac{6 \times 3 + 1}{3} = \frac{19}{3}$

$2 \frac{1}{3}$ is a mixed fraction and can be written as $2 \frac{1}{3} = \frac{2 \times 3 + 1}{3} = \frac{7}{3}$

$∴ 6 \frac{1}{3} + 2 \frac{1}{3} = \frac{19}{3} + \frac{7}{3} = \frac{26}{3}$
