We have, Required sum
= $(7 x^{2} - 4 x + 5) + (- 3 x^{2} + 2 x - 1) + (5 x^{2} - x + 9)$
= $7 x^{2} - 3 x^{2} + 5 x^{2} - 4 x + 2 x - x + 5 - 1 + 9$ [Collecting like terms]
= $(7 - 3 + 5) x^{2} + (- 4 + 2 - 1) x + (5 - 1 + 9)$ [Adding like terms]
= $9 x^{2} - 3 x + 13$
