To add two or more algebraic expressions, group the like terms of the expression and add each group of like terms separately.
The Sum
$= (3 y^{2} + 4 y - 7) + (6 y^{2} - 3 y + 4) + (- 2 y^{2} - 2 y + 3) = (3 y^{2} + 6 y^{2} - 2 y^{2}) + (4 y - 3 y - 2 y) + (- 7 + 4 + 3)$ (grouping the like terms)
adding the numerical coefficient of like terms
$= (3 + 6 - 2) y^{2} + (4 - 3 - 2) y + (- 7 + 4 + 3) = (9 - 2) y^{2} + (4 - 5) y + (- 7 + 7) = 7 y^{2} + (- 1) y + 0 = 7 y^{2} - y$
