Find the sum of given polynomial.
Given, $4 x y, - 2 x y, 3 x^{2} y, - x^{2} y$
Rearrange in like terms and add them by distributive law.
$= 4 x y + (- 2 x y) + 3 x^{2} y + (- x^{2} y) = (4 - 2) x y + (3 - 1) x^{2} y = 2 x y + 2 x^{2} y$
Hence, the sum of $4 x y, - 2 x y, 3 x^{2} y, - x^{2} y$ is $2 x y + 2 x^{2} y$ .
