Open in App
Solution

To add two or more algebraic expressions, group the like terms of the expression and add each group of like terms separately.

The Sum

=(5a-6b)+(2a-3b)+(-a+4b)=(5a+2a-a)+(-6b-3b+4b) (grouping the like terms)

adding the numerical coefficient of like terms

=(5+2-1)a+(-6-3+4)b

=(7-1)a+(-9+4)b=6a+(-5)b=6a-5b
