Solution

To find the sum of a positive and a negative integer, we take the absolute value of each integer and then subtract the values and put the sign of the number greater in value to the result.

Step-1: Take the absolute values of both the integers:

The absolute value of -8 is 8.

The absolute value of 18 is 18.

Step-2: Subtract the absolute values:

18-8=10

Step-3: Put the sign of the number greater in value to the result:

18 > 8

18 has a positive sign. Hence, we will add a plus sign to the result.

So, the result becomes +10 or 10.

Hence, (-8)+(18)=10.
