Open in App
Solution

To find the sum of a positive and a negative integer, we take the absolute value of each integer and then subtract the values and put the sign of the number greater in value to the result.

Step 1: Take the absolute values of both the integers

The absolute value of 11 is 11.

The absolute value of -7 is 7.

Step 2: Subtract the absolute values

11-7=4

Step 3: Put the sign of the number greater in value to the result

11 > 7

11 has a positive sign preceding it in the question. Hence, we will add a '+' sign to the result.

So, the result becomes 4.

Hence, (11)+(-7)=4.
