Solution
Answer 1
Cholrination of methyl takes place at 250oC. The reaction mechanism opted by free radicals. Tetraethyllead (C2H5)4Pb dissociates and form free radical at lower temperature. That in turn induce the formation of Chlorine free radical. The reaction do not require to achieve bond dissociation energy for the formation of Cl∗ free radical and the halogenation reaction takes place at 140oC instead of 250oC
