Solution
The first step Aditya should take is to inform the nearest police station and register an FIR.
First Information Report (FIR) is a written document prepared by the police when they receive information about the commission of a cognisable offence (offences for which police can take action without a warrant).
Anyone who is either a victim of a crime, or has witnessed a crime, or has information regarding a crime may file an FIR.
The procedure of filing an FIR:
The officer must record the FIR in writing.
The officer must read the FIR back to the person filing it to ensure that all the details are correct.
The person filing the FIR must sign it and get a copy of the FIR free of cost.
If the officer in charge refuse to take the complaint, the matter can be escalated to the SHO.
The DSP, SP, and SSP can be approached if the SHO does not report the matter.
In any of the cases, if the complaint is still not registered, we can approach the judiciary, where the court can direct the police to register the complaint. The court itself can register the complaint and hand it over to the police.
