Advertisements require large investments. It costs a lot of money to make an advertisement and show it through various media. These advertisements have to be shown repeatedly to retain their image in the minds of people. Advertisements may also contain endorsements by celebrities who charge a high fee for associating themselves with the product. Endorsements by celebrities add to the cost of the product in the market. Such a huge amount of money can be spent only by big business houses. People with smaller businesses cannot afford to spend such money on advertisements and packaging. Consumers tend to believe that packaged and advertised products are better and this affects the market share of smaller companies. Thus, advertisements are beneficial only for big business houses, which have the requisite monetary resources to advertise their products.
