Afferent nerves are the nerves arising from the spinal cord and are also called sensory nerves. They are called sensory nerves because they are responsible for carrying electrical impulse from the sensory organs (such as eyes, skin, ears etc,). Whenever a sense organ receives a stimulus it reaches the CNS through the afferent nerve.
