Solution

Let the present age of father and son is x and y years, respectively.

After 5 years, age of son =y+5 years.
y+5=x2
x2y=10 ...(a)

Five years ago, age of the father and son was x5 and y5, respectively.
(x5)+(y5)=75
x+y=85 ...(b)

Eliminating y by subtracting (a) from (b) we get,
x+y(x2y)=8510
y+2y=75
y=753
y=25
Substituting in (b) we get,
x=85y
x=8525=60

Age of father and son is 60 years and 25 years, respectively.
