After independence Sri Lanka witnessed supremacy of which community?
After the Independence of Sri Lanka, the dominant Sinhala community and the immigrant population of Sri Lanka witnessed supremacy. The Tamil community received several favours under British rule and rose to prominence, but the Sinhalese experienced supremacy after independence.
The Sinhalese came to influence the government, via government favours, spread their language and culture, and also demonized the language and culture of Tamil. They reduced government employment and higher education for the Tamils.
