Let the age of the man be x and that of the son be y

x + 6 = 3 (y + 6)

x + 6 = 3y + 18

x - 3y = 12 ----(1)

x -3 = 9 (y – 3)

x - 3 = 9y - 27

x - 9y = -24 ------(2)

On solving (1) and (2)we will get, x = 30 & y = 6
