Solution

Let the income of the man be Rs x.
Then, income spent = 80% of Rs. x
= Rs 80100×x = Rs 80x100 = Rs 4x5
Amount left after all the expenditure = Rs x-4x5 = Rs 5x-4x5 = Rs x5
Amount given to the charity = 10% of Rs x5
= Rs 10100×x5 = Rs 10x500= Rs x50
Amount left after the charity = Rs x5-x50
= Rs 10x-x50 = Rs 9x50
Now, we have:
Rs 9x50 = Rs 46260
∴ x = Rs 46260×509 = Rs 257000
Hence, the income of the man is Rs 2,57,000.
