Let the present age of John be $x$ and Ahmed will be $x+7$.
Four years ago, their ages were $(x-4)$ and $(x+7)-4=x+3$
As per the given condition,
$(x+7)-4=2(x-4)$
$\Rightarrow x+3=2x-8$
$\Rightarrow x-2x=-3-8$
$\Rightarrow -x=-11$
$x=11$
$\therefore$ present age of John is $11$ years and Ahmed is $(11+7)=18$ years.
$7$ years later, their ages will be John :$(11+7)=18$ years and Ahmed : $(18+7)=25$ years.
Sum of their ages after $7$ years will be$(18+25)=43$ years.
