Aju was standing at the corner of a square field. He started walking along the North-East direction. When he was 102 m away from where he started, he took a left turn and started walking again. Taking the square field as co-ordinate plane, find the equation of Aju’s current path.

The correct option is B

x + y – 20 = 0


AB = 102m

Since Aju travelled in North - East direction, he is moving at an angle of 45 from x -axis. So,

coordinates of point B = (10, 10)

Equation of AB: x – y = 0

After a left turn, i.e. 90° turn, the new path will be perpendicular to the initial path.

Equation of the current path: x + y + k = 0 [m1m2​ = -1]

We know that it passes through B.

Putting the values of x and y, we get

10 + 10 + k = 0

k = -20

So, equation of the current path: x + y – 20 = 0
