Alex has five pairs of jeans and bought six pairs more. How many pairs of jeans does Alex own now?

Given:
Alex has 5 pairs of jeans and bought 6 pairs more.

Need to find–––––––––––––: Total pairs of jeans Alex own now

Now, suppose, one pair of jeans = one green chip

Now, to get the pairs of jeans Alex own now, we need to add initial pairs of jeans (5), and currently bought pairs of jeans (6).

This is equivalent of adding 5 and 6 green chips (as one pair of jeans is equivalent to one green chip) as depicted in the below picture.


As per the above illustration, we get 11 chips after the addition, which is equivalent to 11 pairs of jeans.

Therefore, Alex owns 11 pairs of jeans now.
