We have to find the factors of 6.
Factors of 6 = 1, 2, 3, 6.
Alex can put them in groups of 1, 2, 3, 6 without any ball being left.
Arrangment 1 : 6 groups of 1 ball each
1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 6
Arrangement 2 : 3 groups of 2 balls each
2 + 2 + 2 = 6
Arrangement 3 : 2 groups of 3 balls each
3 + 3 = 6
Arrangement 4 : 1 group of 6 balls
