Question

All objects having uniform speed need not have uniform velocity. Describe with the help of examples.

Solution

Uniform speed : If an object covers equal distance in equal interval of time, then time speed graph of an object is a straight line parallel to time axis then body is moving with a uniform speed.

A body is said to have uniform velocity if it covers equal distance in equal intervals of time in a particular direction, however the time intervals may be small. This means that if a body is traveling at a constant speed along a straight line (i.e, a particular direction) then it said to have uniform velocity.

ie, in speed it is just a scalar quantity or it just have a numerical value.
But in velocity it has a direction in additional to magnitude.

Consider a car moving with constant speed in a circular road.So the direction of car changes in every moment ,so the the car does not have uniform velocity but have uniform speed
