Although sexual
reproduction is a long drawn, energy-intensive complex form of reproduction, many groups of organisms in kingdom Animalia and Plantae prefer this mode of reproduction because:-
* Genetic variation: Genetic variation is created in a population of species due to the process of meiosis that takes place during gametogenesis.
*Adaptation: The variation in population of a species is essential for survival of species under a changing environment.
*Evolution: As a result of variations and adaptations, evolution of a species takes place.
*Vigour and vitality: Genetic recombinations, interactions etc. during sexual reproduction provide vigour and vitality to the offspring.
