Reaction: $A l_{2} O_{3} \to 2 A l^{3 +} + 3 O^{2 -}$

Reaction at cathode: $2 A l^{3 +} + 6 e^{-} \to 2 A l$

Reaction at anode: $3 O^{2 -} - 6 e^{-} \to 3 [O]$

$3 [O] + 3 [O] \to 3 O_{2}$
