according to question ,she subtract the 5/2 from the no.= x-5/2
now ,she multiply the result by 8 =8(x-5/2)
according to statement
3x = 8(x-5/2) [ since the result now obtained is three times the same number thought of ]
3x=8x -20
20=5x
x=4
she thought the no. as 4
