Aminocentices is done to find any kind of disease in the baby right ?? Are those diseases carried to the baby genetically or due to some abnormalities?

Amniocentesis is a pre-natal diagnostic technique that is used to determine the sex and metabolic disorders of the developing foetus in the mother’s uterus. It can also be used for birth defects which are genetic like Down's syndrome, Edward syndrome etc. But these defects have less chances of getting inherited.
