Question

Among (CH3)3N and CH3NH2, amine with ________ methyl groups attached has the higher boiling point.

Open in App
Solution

The boiling point of methyl amine is 267 K whereas the boiling point of trimethyl amine is 276 K.
Thus, the boiling point of trimethyl amine is higher than the boiling point of methyl amine.
This is due to higher molecular weight of trimethyl amine as compared to methylamine.

3 methyl group is attached to it.
