Solution

The correct option is D HClO2
Option (a)
Here, Central atom (C) is having 3 σ bonds and zero lone pair. So steric number is 3+0=3. So Hybridisation is sp2. Also it is having trigonal planar structure.

Option(b)
Here, Central atom (Si) is having 4 σ bonds and zero lone pair. So steric number is 4+0=4. So Hybridisation is sp3. It has regular tetrahedral geometry and is non-polar.

In Option (c) and (d)

Here, Central atom (B) is having 3 σ bonds and zero lone pair. So steric number is 3+0=3. So Hybridisation is sp2. Also it is having symmetrical trigonal planar structure so it is non-polar.

In HClO2 Central atom (C) is having 2 σ bonds and two lone pair. So steric number is 2+2=4. So Hybridisation is sp3. Since it is having unsymmetrical angular structure so it is polar.
