Conversion of AC generator into DC generator:

1. In an AC generator, a slip ring is fixed at one arm of the loop, so when it turns by $180°$ the end becomes polar opposite to the previous direction and therefore, current flows in opposite direction.
2. In DC generator, commutator is weakly attached to brushes and exchanges with each other after $180°$, so the current continues flowing in the same direction as the net effect is canceled out.
