An ant travels a distance of 8cm from P to Q and then moves a distance of 6cm at right angles to PQ. Find its resultant displacement.
Given Data:
An act travels a distance from P to Q, =8cm
Distance travel from Q to S, =6cm
Step 1: Displacement:
From the Pythagoras theorem we can calculate the shortest path between P and S,
PS2=PQ2+QR2
PS2=82+62
PS=√64+36=√100=10cm
Hence the resultant displacement is 10 cm
