Let the cloth sold by the agent $=x$

Comission of sales of cloth $=2.5\%$

Commission $=Rs12.50$

According to the problem,

$2.5\%ofx=Rs12.50$

$\frac{2.5}{100}\times x=12.50$

$x=\frac{12.50\times 100}{2.5}$

$x=\frac{1250}{2.5}$

After cancellation we get,

$x=Rs.500$
