The correct option is A Reduces
Sound is a form of energy produced and transmitted by vibrating matter. Sound travels in waves. When sound moves through matter (solid, liquid, or a gas), the molecules of the matter move backward and forward in the direction in which the wave is traveling. This movement is called a vibration. Sound travels more quickly through solids than through liquids and gases because the molecules of a solid are closer together. Sound travels the lowest through gases because the molecules of a gas are farthest apart. In a vacuum sound cannot travel because there is no matter for it to move through.
In the given question, the observer standing close to the vessel is able to hear the alarm bell in the water as the sound of the bell travels through the water(liquid) and then through the air(gas) and then out of the vessel to the observer's ears. But when the air is sucked out of the vessel, the sound cannot travel outside the vessel as there is no medium for it to travel. Sound cannot travel through vacuum and hence the sound is not heard.
