Solution
Krishna used this method: The discount is given in percentage. Hence, the M.P. is taken as 100. Rate of discount =5% Amount of discount =5100×100 =5. Selling Price = M.P. − Discount =100−5=95 If S.P. is 95, then M.P. is 100. When S.P. is 5225, M.P. =10095×5225 ∴ M.P. of the almirah =5,500.
OR Vignesh used the formula method: S.P. = Rs 5225 Discount =5% M.P. = ? M.P. =(100100−Discount)× S.P. =(100100−5)×5225 =10095×5225 =5,500.
