Solution

Krishna used this method:
The discount is given in percentage.
Hence, the M.P. is taken as 100.
Rate of discount =5%
Amount of discount =5100×100
= 5.
Selling Price = M.P. Discount
=1005= 95
If S.P. is 95, then M.P. is 100.
When S.P. is 5225,
M.P. =10095×5225
M.P. of the almirah = 5,500.

OR
Vignesh used the formula method:
S.P. = Rs 5225
Discount =5%
M.P. = ?
M.P. =(100100Discount)× S.P.
=(1001005)×5225
=10095×5225
= 5,500.
