Question

An ammeter and a milliammeter are converted from the galvanometer. Out of the two, Which current
measuring instrument has higher resistance?

Open in App
Solution

Resistance is inversely proportionally to current.
Since current is less in millimeter therefore it will have more resistence..

Or

Milliammeter can easily be made by putting a linear scale with galvanometer, after that calibration has to be done. So, no shunt required to bypass the current.

Now, from the ammeter if you mean ammeter of higher rating then surely one has to apply shunt whose resistance must be less than meter resistance. So, overall resistance will decrease.

In short milliammeter will have higher resistance.
