Solution

Transpiration:

  1. The process is Transpiration.
  2. Transpiration is the loss of water in the form of vapors from the aerial parts of the plant.
  3. Various environmental factors like temperature, light, wind, humidity and internal factors like the structure of the leaf and root-shoot ratio affect transpiration.
  4. Transpiration not only brings about the ascent of sap but also has a cooling effect and saves the plant from heat injury.
  5. When the transpiration rate exceeds the water absorption rate, it leads to wilting of the plant.
