Solution

Chemical reaction: When two or more substance or reactant reacts with each other and forms a different type of substance is called a chemical reaction.

  • These are the following types of reactions: Displacement reaction, Double displacement reaction, decomposition reaction, oxidation reaction, etc.

Double displacement reaction: A chemical reaction in which an exchange of ions occurs between the reactant is called a double displacement reaction.

  • In this type of reaction, an insoluble product is formed called the precipitate.
  • The precipitate which is formed in this reaction is show color, depending upon the nature of the precipitate.
  • For example — Pb(CH3COO)2 + 2KI 2CH3COOK + PbI2

lead Iodide ppt [Bright yellow powder]

  • The colour of the precipitate of this reaction is bright yellow.
  • The name of the precipitate and formula is lead iodide & PbI2 respectively.
  • The given reaction is a double displacement reaction.
  • The balanced chemical reaction is

Pb(CH3COO)2 + 2KI 2CH3COOK + PbI2
