An article is marked $20\%$ above cost price. The shopkeeper allows a discount of $12\%$ on it. Find his gain or loss percent.

Suppose C.P $=Rs.100$
Marked price $=Rs.100+Rs.20=Rs.120$
Discount $=Rs.\frac{12}{100}\times 120=Rs.14.40$
$\therefore S.P=Rs.120-Rs.14.40=Rs.105.60$
$\therefore Gain=Rs.105.60-Rs.100=Rs.5.60$
$\therefore Gain\%=\frac{5.60}{100}\times 100=5.6\%$
