Let the cost of article before adding GST be $x$.

After adding $18\%$ GST,

The price is $x+18\%ofx=x+0.18x=1.18x$

It is given that, the price including GST is $1239$

$\Rightarrow 1.18x=1239$

$\Rightarrow 118x=1239\ast 100$

$\therefore x=1050$

Therefore , the cost of the article before adding the GST or the original price is $1050$ Rupees.
