Question

An astronaut accidentally gets separated out of his small spaceship accelerating in inter stellar space at a constant rate 50ms2, what is the acceleration of the astronaut the instant after he is outside the spaceship? (Assume that there are no nearby starts to extract gravitational force on him).

Solution

Initially, the force was given by the rocket. Once he is separated from the spaceship, there are no nearby starts to exert a gravitational pull, and the small spaceship exerts negligible gravitational attraction on him.

F = ma

if f = 0 then a = 0

So, by the first law of motion, the acceleration must be zero.
