Given:

T=40 s
t=2 minutes 20 sec=2×60+20=140 s


Assuming that the athlete starts the motion from point A.

After 140 s, he will complete 3 and half rounds.

Therefore, after 2 minutes and 20 sec, the athlete will be at point B.

So, the displacement of athlete is,

d = AB =2R

Hence, option (A) is the correct answer.
